First steps!

With just 4 days to spare until his 1st birthday, the amazing Gavin astounds his parents with his latest feats of genius.

Here he is pushing his toy pony around the house. He really concentrates, and makes funny little grunting noises, so we know he's working hard. He wants to walk so bad he can taste it!

When he pushes the pony into a corner or a wall, I say, "uh-oh, stuck!". Today he started repeating it back. :)

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for!

Bathroom Remodel

When we moved into our house in February of 2007, Paul and I knew we would want to remodel the master bathroom and kitchen at some point. There were just always more important things to do, like taking care of a newborn and starting new jobs, etc. Last month, we finally felt like we could handle the disorganization, so our good friend, Alex, swooped in with his crew and did a fantastic job. We only had a toilet in our bedroom for 2 weeks! :)

Before pictures:

Notice that the previous owners really liked everything to be white. There was also carpet on the floor and a door to the right of the vanity separating it from the toilet & shower, which we didn't like.

And finally, the finished project....

Baby Livvy

Our little niece, Olivia, is packing on the pounds and is 10-weeks-old already. She and her parents came over to play with me and Gavin last week, so I got my tiny-baby-fix taken care of. She's a cuddly little "lump of love", and really likes cozying up on anyone who will hold her. My brother really needed a nap while they were here, and she just curled right up and napped with him. It was beyond adorable. :)

11-Months-Old!

Can you believe we will be celebrating Gavin's 1st birthday next month? We can't. He has grown so fast and come so far from the little bundle of wailing joy we brought home from the hospital. He's now a 25-pound bundle of joy. His latest tricks include:

  • standing and creeping his way across a room while holding onto the wall
  • opening cabinet doors (and the refridgerator)
  • eating finger foods
  • holding his own bottle & sippy cup
  • saying "dada" and sometimes "mama"
  • taking 2 good long naps everyday

And finally, his most amazing trick: sleeping from 7:30pm to 7am!!!!! We've waited 11 long months for that one. :)

I recently realized that I hardly have any pictures of Gavin sleeping, since he always sleeps in his crib, and we never go in there while he's sleeping because the floor creaks. :) So, I finally got this one of him during a nap. Notice the cute little tushie.

Of course the flash woke him up (he's always cute & dazed like this at first)

This morning, enjoying some cartoons and a baba. (The parents' heads were intentionally cut off due to bed head.)

still a little groggy (just like mommy)

When we were more awake, we strolled over to the elementary school and played for a while. (The parents still had bed head so hats were necessary.)

Block Party

Last weekend, our neighborhood had its annual BBQ, and this year it lacked the torrential downpour we enjoyed last year from under a tent. I was also, happily, not 9 months pregnant for this one. The weather was great, the hot dogs, chips, and beer plentiful, and the fire department came again to put on a fun show for the kids. We couldn't have asked for a cooler neighborhood. :)

Maybe next year Gavin will want to touch the buttons and hoses

"Noro Virus clean-up kit" and "Teddy Bears, Badges, and Tattoos".
These guys come prepared.

Munchkins

On Friday, Gavin & I met some other playgroup babies and mommies at Munchkin Playland - a cool indoor playground where I can see us spending a lot of time this winter. Gavin had fun playing with the mini school bus and tool bench, and shared nicely with the other babies. And I enjoyed a break from the heat wave!
