Who knew how little time we would have to post pictures after Gavin came home! Between cleaning up the house, feeding him every few hours, getting a visitor now and then, and trying to nap when he naps, the days are pretty full. At his 2-week checkup yesterday, Gavin was back up to his birthweight and doing well. He's been enjoying noticing himself in the mirror, getting some tummy time, and getting a bath now and then. We've even caught a few smiles and a near-laugh. I can't get over how much he's looking like Paul every day! Here are some more pics:

One year anniversary!
In other news, Paul and I also managed to squeeze in a little celebration of our one-year anniversary last night. We celebrated by taking a swig of wine, then heading to our old neighborhood downtown for some gelato and a walk in the park, just like we used to do. Gramma and aunt Kristin were able to watch Gavin for our much-needed hour-long date, and we had a good time getting back out into the world and reminiscing about what a great year it's been. :)

One week old!
Gavin's first week has flown by, and Paul and I think we might be getting the hang of things somewhat. Seeing his pediatrician today helped us a lot and confirmed that we haven't done anything yet to really mess him up. :) Paul has had this week off from work, which has been WONDERFUL - for me and for him. It'll be really hard to see him go back next week, but we're also getting a lot of help from my mom and sister who've been staying with us and taking some of the night shift to rock Gavin and soothe him while mommy and daddy try to get a 2-hr stretch of power nap in. It's been tough, but we knew it would be, and we figure it can only get easier. Right? Anyway, here are some more photos of our beautiful boy...
Gavin's swing...we're not sure if he likes this yet or not, but it keeps him quiet for a few minutes at a time.

He's here!!!!
Gavin Robert McLaughlin finally joined us Wednesday morning! He was delivered by ceasarean at 8:39 am, weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces, and measured 20 inches long. He's the cutest thing ever, and a real sweetheart. He just loves to cuddle and has the most adorable little squeak for a cry. Since I have been recuperating from surgery, Paul has taken over a lot and become a really good diaper changer and baby swaddler.

Of course we can't stop taking pictures so here are a few taken from the hospital...

Countin' it down
My last day of work was on Friday and Paul is now off from work for 2 weeks, so we're spending today packing our hospital bags and waiting around. We're scheduled to go to the hospital late tonight for an induction, so are hoping to be holding baby Gavin in our arms sometime tomorrow night! I can't believe he's almost here. The last 9-10 months were unbearably long, but now that the due date is finally here, it seems like it's flown by. I'm having the usual first-timer fears of what I'll do with a baby once he gets here, but we're both confident that it'll be a blast and we can't wait to be a family of 3. So, for those of you who read this, send good thoughts our way tomorrow and we'll be sure to email pictures out as soon as we can. Thanks for being such supportive friends and family!
