More family birthdays...

On Saturday, my family got together again to celebrate my mom's and aunt's birthdays (as well as celebrating my aunt & uncle's visit from PA). As always, a good time and good food. After that, Paul painted the baby's room on Sunday. We still need to assemble the furniture and add a few accessories, but for now the cute color is enough to keep us excited. Only about 10 more weeks to go, give or take!

Babymoon weekend

This last weekend Paul and I were finally able to take our Babymoon getaway. We wanted to do something really relaxing before the baby is born and get out of the city, but also stay somewhat close because flying seems too stressful (and I just feel too big anyway). So we ended up staying at a romantic little cottage in Sisters, Oregon (about 3 hrs away), which was also just down the road from where we got engaged a year ago. The place had a spa next door where we had massages and plenty of nature and pretty scenery to gaze at. Not to mention the absolutely perfect weather we had. It also just so happened to be the same weekend that the town had its annual rodeo so we got to experience some country culture, which we forget exists when living in a city like Portland. People really do still wear cowboy hats & Wranglers. :)

Anyway, here's our little cottage on the left...
Here are the "Three Sisters" mountains, for which the little town is named.

Kicky time

Baby Mac has been showing more personality lately as we're learning what sort of stimuli he responds to. He likes to be talked to and sung to, and also responds vigorously when Mommy has a [rare] cup of coffee or eats sugary food, as evidenced after eating birthday cake last weekend. He also does it more when Mommy is laying down. Here he is putting on a little show for uncle Derek & auntie Meg.

Happy Birthday!

Last weekend was jam-packed with activity for us. While Paul painted one of our bathrooms, and made a few more trips to Home Depot, I went to a big sale for baby gear and clothes at the local fairgrounds with 2 of my friends on Saturday. Since my one friend is part of the sponsoring club, she was able to get me in earlier than the public, so I had a great selection. I came home with a great swing, 2 bouncy seats, a pack n'play, and a ton of cute baby boy sleepers and onesies. It was way too much fun. After that, I met 9 other girls at the theater to see Sex & the City, which was followed by fancy mock/cocktails and dinner out. On Sunday evening, my family came over and we celebrated birthdays for Paul and Kristin at our house. It was nice to have my grandparents up and finally get to show them where we live, as well as my mom, Derek, and Meg. Everyone got really excited looking at all the baby stuff in the nursery (can you tell this is the first grandkid/nephew?). We had a yummy dinner and finished off with cobbler for Kristin and ice cream cake for Paul.
